The skins we use for our instruments are sourced from carefully selected local RotbunteAllgäuercattle and bulls. It has gotten increasingly difficult in recent years, however, to source sufficiently thickskins. Due to BSE (bovine spongiform encephalopathy), cattle is butchered at an increasingly young age. In addition to that, recent changes in the composition of animal feed have led to thinner skins.
Please note that our drumskins are made from naturalproducts which can highly vary in color, structure and grain from the sample images provided on our homepage. While we do take great care in selecting our drumskins, we cannot give any guarantee regarding special preferences for color and sound.
Please contact us if you want to reskin a drum, if you need a drumskin with a different diameter, or if you need help stretching the skin on your drum – we will gladly provide you with advice.
